Breakthrough technology for low-income countries
Particles for Humanity (PFH) develops medical technologies that improve people’s lives.
Innovation for low-income countries
Medical technology has the potential to save lives and improve the health of millions of people in low-income countries. However, the high cost and technical incompatibility makes them inaccessible to these communities.
Tackling health disparities
PFH is developing a range of medical technologies specifically for use in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). PFH does this by designing affordable products that take into account the feedback of the people who will use them.
PFH-VAP: Reducing vitamin A deficiency
Current Program
Vitamin A deficiency affects 19 million pregnant women and 190 million preschool age children globally.
Food fortification, or adding nutrients to widely consumed foods, is an effective and affordable way to improve the health of millions of people.
However, heat and humidity can destroy vitamin A limiting the effectiveness of food fortification.
Our product, PFH-VAP, uses technology that protects vitamin A allowing it to reach the end consumer and provide nutritional benefit.
